Early set with Joshua Smith’s Lo-fi Live featuring original music from four of Cleveland’s own.

Joshua Smith is a native of Cleveland Ohio, who grew up performing with some of Cleveland’s stalwart jazz influences such as Greg Bandy and Kenny Davis. In 1998 Joshua founded the Cleveland-based band Birth with fellow collaborators Joe Tomino and Jeremy Bleich. In addition to performing with Birth over the past 27 years, Joshua lived and performed as a San Francisco resident in the Bay Area for 16 years, playing as a member of The Scott Amendola Quartet and with fellow Cleveland native, composer Dan Plonsey, as well as leading a myriad of groups in the creative music and jazz realms.
For the last six years, Joshua has lived in New Orleans, Louisiana. Joshua is fortunate to play with a highly skilled subset of New Orleans musicians including Jason Marsalis, Papa Mali, and Betty Shirley, amongst many others. He also tours occasionally with Ohio-based pianist Keigo Hirakawa’s Quartet, and leads his own forward thinking jazz quartet featuring the great Kim Cass on bass.

This Sunday Joshua Smith’s Lo-fi Live will feature three of Cleveland’s finest and most grooving rhythm section players, Cutty, Tony Kazel, and Darren Frate performing some exquisite music that the group recently recorded for an upcoming release. They will cut loose on this material in a spirited fashion at this performance. Don’t miss this chance to hang out and vibe with the sounds of Lo-fi live at B-Side, performing an early set from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM this Sunday, December 21.
